By default, GroupWise WebAccess uses the web browser IP address of the GroupWise WebAccess user to confirm that, during the same session, it is always communicating with the same user. This is the highest form of security and works well for users on desktop workstations. However, for laptops and mobile devices that are carried to different places, possibly from one network segment to another, this level of security can cause interruptions in user sessions. For example, when a user moves from a Wifi network to a cell phone network, they would encounter this problem.

Other security features such as session cookies provide excellent security, even without the IP address checking. If you have multiple users who login to GroupWise from various locations, you can turn off the need for confirming the Web browser IP address to make GroupWise WebAccess more stable for these users.

To disable IP address checking:

Open the webacc.cfg file in a text editor.

Search to find the following line:

Security.UseClientIP.enable=

Change true to false.

Save the webacc.cfg file.

Restart GroupWise WebAccess.

BUT!

The GroupWise 8 readme says that it is a good idea to change this setting via Console One. Otherwise your setting will probably be overwritten.

In ConsoleOne, browse to and select the Domain object.

Right-click the GroupWiseWebAccess object, then click Properties.

Click Application > Security.

Deselect Use client IP in securing sessions.

Deselect the check boxes in the Use Cookies column.

Click OK.

Novell has a TID that describes a related issue when using proxy servers and GroupWise WebAccess.

This is some documentation that describes the problem well, but as it applies to the admin tool GW Monitor.
